“There is in every true woman’s heart, a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity, but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.”
~ Washington Irving, The Sketch Book ~
October is the chosen month to focus on breast cancer awareness. As impactful as this disease is, I wanted to use it as an opportunity to celebrate the lives of women, investigate alternative treatments, and focus on prevention. So this month, along with other great topics, look for articles focused on women’s health, bodies and wisdom.
I’m encouraging all practitioners to share your holistic wisdom and show women how they can apply this knowledge in daily life. If you have something to add to the information we present please share it, so others can gain strength and insight from our stories and experience.

Holistic United is in its infancy and will evolve with the addition of people like you. We cannot thank you enough for participating by creating a personal profile, following us on twitter and sharing your wisdom on our facebook practitioners group & like page. You are all dynamic healers. We’d like to share some of our 2010 highlights.
Holistic United Highlights 2010
During the G20 Summit, Holistic United participated in The Human Summit Project, a celebration of peace, love and prosperity. It featured an hour-long meditation that focused on the joined consciousness “of tens of thousands of people simultaneously around the world.”
In May I viewed the film, Voyage to Betterment and was able to meet its producer, Andrew Facca. Check out my review of the film on the Holistic United blog.
Because of a simple and wonderful fluke we stumbled upon Animoto, they make “killer videos” from your images. It’s easy and it’s how we developed the Holistic United video. Use Animoto’s technology to create you own marketing tool.
Lori Deschene, founder of Tiny Buddha, her gift for writing and coaching was paramount in the continued evolution of the blog. Find out more about Lori’s services here.
Holistic United was joined by three contributing writers
Dini Cohen, taught us How to be More Vitamin Savvy and gave us Natural Ways to Deal with Arthritis, is a nutritional educator who started Kickstart Nutrition, the place to go for cooking classes and demos, seminars and wellness programs. Check out Dini’s Profile here.
Melissa Cokas, showed us how to Be Positive in Difficult Times, is a yoga teacher who runs her own blog bareinboots.com. She also reviewed the film Water: The Great Mystery. Check out Melissa’s Profile here.
Ben Stone, brought our attention to the work of Dr. David Hawkins in Highly Calibrated. Ben is an English teacher, who spends time writing, traveling, and loving life.
Holistic United Plans for 2011
Our members participated in our new Book Store by giving us great book ideas that others will want to read and share. We plan on adding some of the most incredible books, so there is a one-stop shop for the best in holistic knowledge. Have a suggestion of your own? Let us know about it.
This year we plan to have posts from even more dynamic writers, who will share personal knowledge and experience that you can use in your daily life. Anyone from anywhere can submit a post on applying holistic wisdom into everyday life. If you have experiential knowledge you want to share and are interested in writing for Holistic United, we would love to read your work.
This year I intend on sharing much more of my personal experience, so I can share what I’ve learned, but also I want to learn from you. I know others will benefit from a community of holistic practitioners coming together, adding to an ever growing body of knowledge.
Thank you for reading, sharing and caring. We appreciate you all for your support and participation in Holistic United.
To a great 2011!
